Deep Cleaning a House in a Few Easy Steps

Even the tidiest homes require regular cleaning to get rid of dust, grime and bacteria. But, every now and then, a full house deep clean is needed to reach the areas that are often overlooked during regular cleaning. This is especially important if you are planning on selling your home, taking professional photos for an online listing or have guests coming to stay.

While regular cleaning may involve washing dishes, sweeping the floor and dusting bookshelves, deep cleaning involves going the extra mile to make sure everything is spotless. This can include scrubbing the inside of microwaves and stoves, vacuuming carpets, scrubbing showers and bathtubs and deep cleaning cabinets.

It can also include wiping down light fixtures and appliances, washing the inside of windows and scrubbing baseboards. It can be a big job, but by following these steps and tackling one room at a time, it can be done relatively quickly.

The first thing to do is clear away all the clutter that has accumulated on counters, tabletops, floors and furniture. This makes it much easier to find things and will give you a sense of accomplishment as you see the space getting cleaner.

Once you have your supplies and have cleared away the clutter, it’s time to start the actual cleaning. Make sure you have a large garbage bag to throw away all the trash that has gathered during the cleaning process. It’s also a good idea to have some sort of disinfectant on hand – either baking soda paste or one to one vinegar spray. Both can be used to clean surfaces in a pinch and will be very effective.

It’s always a good idea to work from top to bottom during a deep cleaning session. This will ensure that all of the loose dust and dirt settles on the floor so you don’t have to backtrack and reclean a surface. Also, be sure to vacuum carpeting and rugs and wipe down surfaces that are hard to reach. This includes ledges, high windows and light fixtures.

As you go through the rooms of your home, it’s a good idea to keep a check list so you don’t miss any spots. This is especially true if you are working in a rush and need to make your way through the whole house in a short amount of time.

Once you have finished deep cleaning a house, you will be able to relax and enjoy your freshly cleaned space. It’s a great feeling to know your house is free of germs, dust and other unwanted debris that can accumulate over time. By keeping a regular schedule of deep cleaning your home, you can keep it looking and smelling fresh. Whether it’s an annual spring cleaning ritual or a weekend deep clean session, a well-maintained home will feel and look better than ever. So cue up your favorite playlist, roll up your sleeves and get to cleaning!
